Astro-photography anyone?

I've decided I don't spend enough time on my photography so have decided to branch out and have a play with this, starting with planetary shots first the branching out to deep space objects etc later.

My new Telescope is on its way so I wondered if anyone here has already gone down this route before (dare I say it - "Moving to the Dark Side" )

If so, any tips would be most welcome

Re: Astro-photography anyone?

Tend not to use a scope for deep sky, just various lenses, best at f4
recently picked up a 5" Maksutov so may try for planetary at some time

Re: Astro-photography anyone?

thanks Chris, that's about where I am starting from, just got a skymaster 102mm maksutov for planetary work + I hope a bit of Astro but have more or less decided that the camera will be on the goto tripod a fair bit of the time to allow it to track the sky.

Early learning days for me though
