Build Quality and the tactile experience

I have just received my PEN E-P1 today. Though I have only had a short while to play around with it (hugely busy at work so working long hours) I am very struck by how well finished it feels. Seems a pity that more cameras can't emulate that solid tactile feel. I do hope the pictures I take live up to the promise of the few test shots I have rattled off!

Re: Build Quality and the tactile experience

Dan welcome to the quality club. In my opinion the E-P1 makes all other Pens look bland. I've had mine for about 8 months and I never pick it up without noticing what a beautifully designed and finished camera it is. Nothing else in the price range remotely has a build quality to match it.

Do get the MMF adapter to use 4/3 on the E-P1's MFT body. The 35mm macro in particular looks wonderful on the E-P1 and has a great balance. Medium telephotos look good too.

Thanks for the tip. When cash permits I'll give it a whirl.

Glad to hear it Dan as a Pen is on my wish list after the 12-60mm.

Um, the E-P2 is basically the same as an E-P1 in exterior design apart from where the VF-2 finder plugs in... the E-PL2 is a very different style design, whie the E-PL2 actually has a strong E-P1/2 family feel to it and it feels very solidly constructed especially compared to the E-PL1.

Oh yes the E-P1 is indeed built like a tank a wonderful finish and feel and the weight sits lovely in the hand.
