Re: Easter Eigg

Lovely. Muted colours are great. I'd be tempted to crop a chunk of the foreground off though and make it an almost letterbox format.

Re: Easter Eigg

I camped on Eigg many years ago, in Camus Sciotag(sp) - the 'Bay of Singing Sands'.

It was an idyllic location, looking out to Rum.

Re: Easter Eigg

Atmospheric and natural.

I went to a really good talk by Colin Prior at the 2017 NEC Photography Show, and that put Eigg, Rhum and Mull firmly on my bucket list...

Get to Eigg asap because since mains electrification the tourist business has grown and the magic is disappearing - although if I lived there I would be happy about the increased tourism and the money it brings.
A good time to go is fairly early in May before the midges become very active and I have had fine sunny weeks at that time.

Re: Easter Eigg

My wife and I camped on Eigg in the early 70s and there was only one other couple on the island camping. In those days the 'Cal Mac' steamer stood offshore and an open boat came out from the island to pick us up. IIRC there were only 40 people living on the island at that time.

The island has a sad history. All the islanders were killed by a clan from nearby Skye in 1577 (see Massacre Cave: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eigg)

For anyone visiting, the 'Bay of Singing Sands' is a must!

Jim

Indeed yes.
I didn't want to go into the history.
The last time I was there the Singing Sands had disappeared and the bay was bare rock. But a consolation was dawn shots across Laigh beach to the snow capped hills on Rum. Then followed by shots of the sunset behind Rum.
I am now getting a strong urge to return there again
