Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

Hi anybody here using an Apple iMac computer to upload their photos?

Please can somebody tell me how to stop the words "Olympus Cameras" from showing up in the properties field. When using Windows you can left click and go to remove properties and then choose which one to take out, this does not work with Apple. Any help would be welcome.

Hello Derek, many thanks for your reply. When using Windows you can left click and go to remove properties and then choose which one to take out, When I upload photos to Flickr with the iMac the words "Olympus Cameras" appear in the description field.

Re: Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

From what I can see the Device Make is not editable from Finder.

Dependant on what program you are using to create the image to go on Flickr you may be able to restrict the content of the EXIF data which is where the Olympus data is stored.
In Photoshop one can do that - how are you editing your files 9ie which program are you using)

Re: Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

I can't help with the question but I noticed this when I was uploading photos earlier, I am sure it didn't happen a couple of days ago when I uploaded.
Good luck with finding an answer Gareth.

Re: Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

I redefined your question to
"EXIF editor for Mac" on Google and came up with a list of possible apps that will enable you to edit the data in the EXIF part of the file the first program was
http://exifeditorapp.com/

So I suggest you have a scan through the possible apps and try a few out.

I also use Download.com to search for apps, they have a list of all apps for most platforms

Re: Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

I think I have just done it using Photos which comes with Yosemite.

Import the image and select it.
Right click and choose 'Get Info'. The line OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA should be visible.
Select that and right click.
Choose 'Cut' and the description should disappear.

I don't use Flickr, so I don't know if it works but it looks as if it might.

Are you doing it in Photos? If so you should be able to click three times to highlight OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA or alternatively you should be able to click at the start of the phrase and drag across to highlight it. You can't edit 'Get Info' working from the finder.

Re: Olympus cameras & an iMac computer

I use Photoshop for editing in the File menu choose File info this displays the metadata panel in the basic tab you will find the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA line click within it and change to to what you want ie OMD EM1. Click ok this is then saved to the metadata, you can also enter your name etc in another tab etc.

I find this quite an easy way to change things as I'm editing my files.

Hope this helps.

Tom

However I use Exifer. You can Export whatever info you want to a file, then simply edit the file (find & replace) then import the data back to the files.
