E3 settings

Hi, just got my first E3, are there any "standard" settings I should start off with ?

I remember getting the same thing for my E1 from this very forum.

A sound starting point. I used his recommendations when I had E series DSLRs. His explanations of what the settings actually do is far superior to those in the camera manual and he gives his rationale for the parameters he selects. Any changes you need to make will be down to specifics of your style of shooting and personal preferences.

Regards.

Re: E3 settings

There is a great little trick that the E-3 has, to reset the camera simply press the ISO and exposure compensation buttons together, wait 2 secs the screen prompts you for which reset you want.

I often change settings for all manner or reasons, then simply do a reset.

I keep it in the bag at "P" Mode, so I know I can get a "grab shot" if needed.

For all other things I tend to set up as I need for the shoot. 90% is done in Manual mode and shooting in RAW

You might like to try:

1. Turn camera off; open card door.
2. Turn camera on.
3. Depress OK and Menu buttons simultaneously; screen will say "E3"

4. Hold down OK and Menu buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds; camera will prompt "Reset?"; depress OK button.

5. Turn camera off, then back on. All factory defaults should be restored.

Shooting in RAW provides for all the adjustment I need at the post processing stage. However If I were to find I was always altering something, then I would adjust this in camera.
