Wells-next-the-sea

We recently spent a week at Wells-next-the-sea and this is a selection of snapshots taken during our stay. The 'Lifeboat Horse' sculpture by Rachael Long was part of an art trail project last year. It pays homage to the horses which were used to pull the lifeboat through the village and over the sands in former times. It proved so popular with the public that 15,000 was raised by a local campaign to keep it in place as a permanent feature during the summer months. It can be seen in situ, 'guarding' the harbour, in the fifth image.

All the shots were taken with the E-M1 II and 17mm f1.8, apart from the two close-ups of the horse, which I took with the 300mm f4 and MC-14 on my way out to look for birds.

Excellent stuff. I like #2 and that last shot of the horse.

Re: Wells-next-the-sea

Many thanks for the 'likes' and kind comments. Don't worry Mark, I will answer to any name.

I noticed that when I posted this I erroneously quoted the amount raised as 1,500 rather than 15,000. I would almost have considered buying it myself for 1,500. It would have looked nice on my back lawn.

Great set, but as a Sculpture vulture the last two are my favourites.
