Printer advice please

I need a new all in one printer. I'm attracted to the HP c8100 series because it will scan slides and negatives. However the downside is that used on a wireless network you can't access the built in DVD drive. That, apparently, is only accessible on a USB connection and I prefer wireless so that other members of the household can share the printer.

Can anyone advise on a printer that will do the same as the HP with wireless and doesn't cost more than 200 or so please?

I have a HP c8180 all-in-one printer.

Yes, you are correct in that the DVD drive is only accessible if connected via USB. It appears like other USB attached devices. You can still print over wireless.

You could always share over a wireless network any mounted DVD in the drive as a netshare from a PC that has the printer attached via USB.

The 8180 was the model I had in mind as it seems to be reasonably priced in our local Staples. Am I right in inferring from your answer that it can be conected simultaneously by both wireless and USB, with the one being used to acces the drive and the other the printer?

Re: Printer advice please

Hi

Done some reading of the manuals.

1) For any one PC you can only connect to the printer one way: USB, wireless or LAN cable.

2) The actual printer can connect to a Wireless network or a LAN cabled network but not both at the same time.

3) USB and Bluetooth can both be used on the same PC

4) I can not see why you could not connect the main PC via USB and other PCs via a wireless network but I don't have a wireless network to test. However, found a review that does do this see review # 35 on this page:
