Few questions re the menu and settings

Hi,

As some will know I've just come back to olympus and bought the EM1 and there's a few settings that I've forgotten how to do and was wondering if folk could help me please? Even though my camera is new it's still only got software version 3.0 so need to update it to 4 but I don't think the firmware update will affect these questions.

1. Can you alter the functions in the SCP
2. Is it possible to display both the histogram and levels (horizontal and vertical) at the same time? In addition is it possible to 'personalise' what the EVF/LCD displays or do you only get the option to scroll through preset settings?
3. On playback/review how do I set a button so that it zooms to 1:1?
4. When using the menu it always goes back to the start of the menus, but when I had the EM5-II I thought I set it so that it went back to the last menu settings I was using. Is this possible with the EM1?
5.Is it possible to set mysets to the mode dial replacing ART, SCN etc? Again IIRC I could do this on the EM5-II.

Any help appreciated.

Alas no - I only wish you could. Seems you can't on the E-M1ii either so I don't think it's a priority for Olympus.

You can certainly have histogram and levels at the same time - at least FW 4. Not sure about 3.

Not sure that's possible.

There is certainly an option to return to the last-used menu choice, just as on the E-M5ii. Maybe it's a FW 4 feature.

Yes, absolutely. I use this all the time. It's a long-time feature, pre-dating FW 4.

Thanks for this, much appreciated. I shall update to V4 and see if I can figure out how to change these things then.

In relation to question 3, is it just zooming via the control dial then? If so I'll have to load an image into LR and then compare which magnification gives you 1:1. I'm guessing it'll be 7x or 10x

.......
The FW for the E-M1 is actually up to 4.3 now, with the latest being released on 19th December. http://dl01.olympus-imaging.com/ww/u.../index43a.html

Don't forget that the Menu settings will be reset if your updating from 3.x.

Re: Few questions re the menu and settings

Thanks for the help guys, now updated to 4.3, seems a lot of the options I wanted were indeed on the FW4. If there's anything else I can't figure out I'll be sure to pop back

I've updated the 12-40mm from 1.0 to 1.3 too, don't know what improvements that gives but maybe it will get rid of the weird noise it does sometimes.
