EVF Battery life

Just wondering what peoples veiws were with regard to battery life when using an EVF rather than the rear screen on the pen models, is battery life better with the EVF ?

Many thanks in advance. Martin

Can't see it making a great difference although, I would surmise it will have some drain, possibly less than the LCD... nothing a spare battery won't cure.

I've recently become the owner of an EP-3 with EVF which I've found to be a boon due to vision problems. Fortunately, it came with spare batteries included in the purchase.

Re: EVF Battery life

Some people reported less battery life using the EVF,
I have found no major difference using VF-2 rather than LCD,
although with my e-P1/17mm I can switch off the LCD and use OVF instead which saves much juice.

So ... much the same drain in my experience.

Re: EVF Battery life

In earlier digital cameras shutting off the LCD screen used to prolong battery life but I think with modern cameras the saving is negligible. Many compacts do not have an EVF anyway. With my OM-D I prefer to use the EVF because it seems more natural in a retro-style camera. Being in my 50s, I am used to using a viewfinder since it was the only option in the film camera days.
