A good start.
They're sharp and a decent size but they look as if you need to open up at least 1 or 2 stops.

Re: First go at the moon

I took Wanderer's advice from last week, and I quote

"its always a sunny day there therefore ISO 100, 1/250th at F8 give or take a stop."

and I got this result on Friday evening!

It was ISO 200, 1/250th, and F7.1 using E620 with 70-300mm lens at 300mm, a tripod (obviously) and manual focus.

I had struggled for years to get one like this, then got this one after three shots once someone told me how!

Good luck!

Re: First go at the moon

You need to increase your aperture size to let more light in during the shot.

This is the F number that your camera is set to, confusingly the bigger the number - the smaller the aperture!

You probably had the aperture in your photos at F18 or some high number, by setting your camera to manual (M) you will be able to adjust the F number to something lower (opening the aperture by a few F stops) and therefore get a brighter image without adjusting the shutter speed.

In my experience (which is limited!) trial and error is much easier on a digital camera, nobody gets to see the ones that didn't turn out!

Hope this helps!
