Village church project: updates

Folks
I have done some more processing of the images for the church project. Perhaps you would care to comment, please?

As you see, I've played with the dynamics, but also converted the knocker to B&W. Maybe I've gone a bit too far, especially with #1. But it has improved the impact!

Just for the hell of it, I might put a couple of these in our first print comp in the New Year; but I'm not sure that club judges like arty

So far as the knocker is concerned, I have a further idea; but that will involve off-camera lighting, instead of the natural light that I used. It's deep inside a narrow porch, so it's impossible to get a good angle for natural light on it. However, when these have been thrashed to death, I'll post some of the other ideas; it'll be interesting to see how people react to them.
Many thanks for your comments - definitely very useful.

3rd is still the best for me a little more detail on the holes at the bottom now I think

Do you have a shot of the entire door knocker ? love to see it

A fixation with door knockers, eh? Yes, I do, I'll post it later (have to resize, etc). BTW, it's probably over 500 years old.
Cheers

Here it is:

And, for good measure, our local squire was the man who arrested Guy Fawkes. Not many villages can say something like that.

Re: Village church project: updates

Well, your previous crop image is 150% better than the whole knocker a much more interesting image. But it is nice to see the whole knocker ... especially I have a thing about big knockers especially old ones

That Chevvy is a naughty girl - but I can relate to old knockers too!
Hi Keith - for what it is worth, I think this is an interesting project and the collection of your photos should look great. I like No 1 with the nice contrast in textures. I prefer the first version of that knocker rather than the B & W, mainly because of the warmer texture more in keeping with the subject.
Merry Christmas to you.

Re: Village church project: updates

Thanks both! (And a Merry Xmas to you both too.) I've been looking for inspiration for a while; difficult to find in winter.... but old churches have quite a lot to offer, if you look at the detail. We still have quite a few in Norfolk with round Saxon towers.

I'll post a few of the other shots later.
Cheers
Keith

Re: Village church project: updates

Keith looking forward to seeing more soon then

and I shall hunt for my "Big Knockers" over Christmas and process them for posting up here (I tend to take them, upload and select the best and file them on my PC) but I too am quite into old Churches ... and the door furniture/fittings

I apologise for my use of the term "Big Knockers" which may have implied another meaning and offended Members here ! ps it was my wicked s.o.h.
