Kingfisher with fish supper and it's not even Friday!

Lovely sunny morning but we had chores which kept us housebound. We did find an hour or so late in the afternoon for a quick stroll along the towpath and were rewarded by being about at feeding time! Unfortunately, the lighting was completely wrong but you have to take the opportunity as it arises and if you think you can walk by and approach the shot from a different angle, you are sadly mistaken!

Not sure who looks more surprised, the kingfisher or the unfortunate fish -

Taken with E-30, 70-300mm lens.

Regards,
Ann1e

Very difficult to catch a kingfisher & a fish !! I'd struggle to get the kingfisher so well done on a fine if not perfectly sharp picture Ann1e...

Nice shot under the circumstnaces Ann1e. It's times like that you need an f2.8 300 lens.

Re: Kingfisher with fish supper and it's not even Friday!

Great memory shot for you Ann1e given the poor light and limited lens speed.

Ever since Keith's (ringneck) "A Ruffe - Fisher" posting and his follow up camo "Its me" I have to question what one has to wear to get such great shots!

Amazing how Kingfisher's catch fish at all - I can sit for hours in a boat with hi tech fish finding gear and expensive tackle and come home with a wet a---- and NO FISH!

Nice catch for you though under the circs.

Re: Kingfisher with fish supper and it's not even Friday!

Nice one Ann1e.....great to see the fish ...and what a big 'un as well.

It's great that you managed to get anything with the light.Despite the shaft of sun on the branch I see you only managed 1/60 @ 200 iso and also -1 ex comp.
Looks like the best I ever manage - "THEY" say it won't work with those settings with the rule of shutter speed to focal length being way out- BUT this shows it does.

Memo to Ann1e and Barr1e - we must arrange a date so that I can bring a big gun (300mm f/2.8 plus EC-20) and big tripod so we can stake out Mr & Mrs Kingfisher

Ian ...I am here and waiting at my Kingy stake out and would love the big gun and EC20 - just to check they work well before you hire them out.
p.s. the E5 stuck on the other end might need checking out as well.
LOL

A great image despite its slight softness - better than any that I have done, that's for sure!
