Do you have Olympus Viewer installed? I wonder if the codec is installed with this by default?
Ian
I have OV3 installed and associated with the .ORF file format.

My E-PL5 .ORF files will show up in "Photo" and also show as thumbnails in explorer.
My E-M10 Mki files aren't supported in "Photo" and don't show up in explorer - they show the icon for OV3.
FWIW it's been this way since I upgraded this machine from Windows 8.1 to 10. I can't remember if I had the codec pack on 8.1 I think not but I'm not sure.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread the codec pack Microsoft released for Windows7 and worked in 8 it was integrated into W10 but not updated.
I have W10 on a machine, but always approach using it with the same anticipation that I would with having a burnt stick poked in my eye and root canal treatment!
I raised this point earlier in the thread but received no response...... If as has been widely reported, Microsoft have withdrawn support for Raw/ORF files since the introduction of Win 10, is the fault with Olympus or Microsoft ?
John
I think 'withdrawn support' needs to be defined. Windows 10 clearly does work with Olympus RAW files, just not some of the latest.
And on my laptop, with no RAW file codecs installed, it works - with most ORFs.
Without searching I can't recall the time scales. Is it possible the Olympus Om-D MK2 versions were introduced after the release of Win 10 ? The reports I read stated support had been withdrawn for any new Orf files produced after the introduction of Win 10.
John
Certainly sounds plausible. I will have a gander to fin out if users of other brands are in the same boat.

Hi John
I spoke with Olympus, they have provided Microsoft with the codec.
I spoke with Microsoft and they have escalated it to their developers. They said there had been compatibility issues, see the excerpt from my conversation with them in post #46.
