Ah, yes - but I think we established that Mark II models weren't compatible but I think AMc has a Mark 1

My E-PL5 .ORF files will show up in "Photo" and also show as thumbnails in explorer.
My E-M10 Mki files aren't supported in "Photo" and don't show up in explorer - they show the icon for OV3.

FWIW it's been this way since I upgraded this machine from Windows 8.1 to 10. I can't remember if I had the codec pack on 8.1 I think not but I'm not sure.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread the codec pack Microsoft released for Windows7 and worked in 8 it was integrated into W10 but not updated.

This is the list of supported Olympus cameras. It was published 22/04/2014 so anything after that isn't supported.
      Olympus: C-7070 Wide Zoom, C-8080 Wide Zoom, E-1, E-3, E-10, E-20, E-30, E-420, E-450, E-520, E-600, E-620, EVOLT E-300, EVOLT E-330, EVOLT E-400, EVOLT E-410, EVOLT E-500, EVOLT E-510, OM-D E-M5, PEN E-P1, PEN E-P2, PEN-P3, PEN E-PL1, PEN E-PL2, PEN E-PL3, PEN E-PL1s, PEN E-PL5, PEN E-PM1, PEN E-PM2, XZ-1, XZ-2, XZ-10
I note the E-M1 isn't listed but seems to be supported based on other people's comments.

IMHO Canon publish their version to support their format in Windows, it's down to Olympus to to do same but they either can't or won't .

I have W10 on a machine, but always approach using it with the same anticipation that I would with having a burnt stick poked in my eye and root canal treatment!

I think 'withdrawn support' needs to be defined. Windows 10 clearly does work with Olympus RAW files, just not some of the latest.

And on my laptop, with no RAW file codecs installed, it works - with most ORFs.

          So that is the mystery!

Certainly sounds plausible. I will have a gander to fin out if users of other brands are in the same boat.

              Hi John
I spoke with Olympus, they have provided Microsoft with the codec.

I spoke with Microsoft and they have escalated it to their developers. They said there had been compatibility issues, see the excerpt from my conversation with them in post #46.

              Cheers
