Well we were not that well positioned for the long jump either as all my shots are of their behinds

I'm actually going on Thursday and Friday, courtesy of my work who are sponsoring one of the athletes. They asked me to go along with the marketing manager to take some photos. Don't think I'll be getting anything of your standard, but we'll see how it goes - I've got zero experience of this sort of thing.

We've got a meet & greet with her and a couple of competition winners on Friday. I've hired an FL36 for that as I don't where it will be. Bit nervous as I normally try to avoid taking pictures of people in favour of things like rivers and mountains... Never even used a flash before, except the T20 on my OM-10.

I've only got the two kit lenses (14-42 & 40-140), plus the 35mm macro and 11-22mm, so not really sure what sort of shots I'll be getting. I'll be using my 520.

      Any tips?

      Cheers,
      Mike

Which events are you going too? Note no flash allowed in the Aquatics Centre.

You know I'm not actually sure - only found out I was going on Friday. I think it's the women's T12 200m final, but I'm not sure what else is going on around then. I think I'll have some free time, so I might see what else I can see.

I want to try and get some shots of the park and the different venues, so I might just wander round the area a bit.

It sounds like you have stadium tickets it'll be either morning or evening.

              Re: Images from the Paralympics

Just getting the flash for the meet & greet, as it may well be indoors. Thought I'd try and cover myself as I'm no portrait shooter... Not really sure how the shots will go in the stadium. I have quite low expectations, but maybe I'll surprise myself.

Might try some long exposures at night if I can find some suitable position and support.

I'll post up anything decent I get.

                    Re: Images from the Paralympics

Good luck with those! Really wanted wheelchair rugby tickets but couldn't get any. We were around a third of the way up the top tier in row 55, block 241 which was just shy of the jump pits. Still a very good view though. The stadium is a good size and I don't think I would have been disappointed even with the seats right at the top

Wier was Friday evening, 5000m heat 3. You got a good shot of the push through for gold.

The stadium looks really good with that sunset, plenty of dynamic range in the crowd too. Orbit with the flowers is excellent, I'd liked to have got a day pass just to amble around but haven't managed. I thought yesterday about swindling one from work and help out in exchange for a few hours on site. But alas I have done something unknown to my back last night and am in quite a bit of discomfort even sitting at my desk

That Orbit tower shot with the greenery at the base makes it look like a War of the Worlds monster invading the planet

Here's another from the new batch I have just uploaded on DPNow:
