  • Two hungry King Parrots.

A young male King Parrot (in young fashion style ) showed up in the morning asking for a feed & so I relented.

Unfortunately, focus is on the chest.

And later on a mature male King Parrot did too & so I decided to hand feed it as well.

They are lovely birds to have around.

What a joy to have wild birds that tame, and the view from your veranda makes me so envious.
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.

Is that a self portrait of the parrot or you! Beautiful birds either way.

They are such lovely parrots Ross, and lovely to see you with them.
I must confess to feeling nervous when seeing how close the bush is to your home, as lovely as it looks.
This time of year always makes me nervous.

I can't believe how tame those parrots are, it must be wonderful to have them around.

Thanks. The view comes with a price though; it still has to be maintained (the weeds don't stop growing with the rain & sun).

Thanks Lyn. I do feel nervous with high winds on hot days but the firies have visited (due to constant unfounded complaints from a paranoid neighbour worrying about everything being a fire hazard) & the last guy gave us (me) some nice assurance that although it can be rather uncomfortable if a fire was about that it would only (& hopefully no more) be possible spot fires to deal with because of the distance we are from the bush & possible fire front & if it gets too much for us (me) we would only need to walk across the road & we'd be safe. Too bad about the house & contents though.

I'm not the only one to spoil them & they soon become used to human contact, but it is rather nice to have them around though.
