        Re: Olympus Magazine

I have subscribed to the magazine for 12 years now. Back in 2000 it was the magazine of the Olympus Camera Club edited, apparently single handedly, by an excellent chap called Ian Aston. I won a 1st prize in the Autumn 2000 edition, (Film picture OM2SP). Since then I have won a further nine competition prizes, as well as having several pictures in the Readers Gallery section. Some prizes were very useful (eg E500 kit and another time an 11-22).

The magazine was later published by Archant Dialogue, and I wrote asking them what had happened to Ian Aston and sadly was informed that he had died.

The publishing was taken over in recent years by Bright publishing, and the style of the magazine has changed a lot. I do not always enter the competition now as I am busy with stock photography and do not seem to be at all in tune with the current producers Bright Publishing. My last win was in July 2009.

I enjoyed entering the competitions in the early days and they did a lot to develop my photography.

I am toying with cancelling my subscription, but it does not cost much and may improve, especially if the publisher changes again...

Wow Tom. I must say I'm not surprised. That one caught my eye and I was pretty sure it would be.

Thanks LM I too had toms down along with two others. Well done tom. Its really nice when you get your image printed especially in a magazine such as this. It makes it all worth while and it certainly inspires me to try a little harder and think more rather than just point and shoot. A win would buy me the 1x4 converter. Good luck Tom.

                    Hi Guys
Thanks for wishing me luck, best of luck to you too. I don't usually enter competitions so was very chuffed at being shortlisted, I did manage to be a competition winner a few years back and had a photo printed in Digital Photo magazine which was a nice ego boost.

A month after the E30 was launched I won the E30 plus 14-54mm lens kit in a competition held by an online magazine so they are definitely worth entering.
