Interesting. I used to have the E-3 set to AF+M all the time without problems.

Yes, that is what I have found too which made me think it wasn't a particularly useful feature.
I did have it set to small. I'll change it back and see what difference it makes. Again, it was something I did with the E-3 because it was better, and I just assumed the E-5 would be the same.
