I should qualify this by saying the issue is the tendency for old telephoto lenses to give strong colour fringing when used on digital. This is the result of the interaction with the micro-lenses and optical filters on the digital sensors and would not necessarily be observed on film (for which such lenses would be designed of course). Even my Olympus OM 400mm f6.3 lens gave noticeable colour fringing and that is not a cheapo lens. I never did I direct comparison between the OM and Sigma so I can't say how they compare in sharpness.
