Actually that's a good feature - if you are working with a different aspect ratio for a job where you need quick turn around to a specific ratio for requested prints then you have not throwm away that extra (as long as you shoot RAW+JPG of course)

Until I read that I didn't know why I would ever use this feature when I win the camera
