Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

Mould on a Mould

This colony was growing on the cut end of a log in a local woodland. The primary species in a Slime Mould, Stemonitis sp. Its spore capsules are produced on these long, wire-like stems. The brown, spore-bearing parts seem to have been shrivelled, perhaps by some effect of the presence of its parasite. The white areas are a fungal mould.
