As said above it all depends on the quality you want in the end and how close

I printed this (bigger file size obviously)



and a number of other pictures from that shoot off on an AO plotter 841 x 1189 mm and it looked fine for the purpose of a book launch. they looked fine on the wall from a couple of feet away - so much so that I was asked for copies properly printed by a few people there

for "wallpaper" it should be OK even at that size

If you are unsure how the printer will handle the upscaling then do that to the file before you send it so you can see what a 100% version looks like from a few feet away before you send it.
