I just got some radio triggers by Phottix. Their basic model is called the Aster. Not dirt-cheap but nowhere near Pocket Wizard prices, I think the basic set of 1 transmitter and 1 receiver was less than 50 and extra receivers are 30-ish. No electronic TTL control, of course. As far as I can tell they work pretty well - I did a still-life where the radio flash was underneath a piece of black velvet and it triggered just fine. I haven't tried long-distance stuff, I think they claim to work at up to 100 metres in radio mode.

http://www.phottix.co.uk/ - they are pretty new to the UK, imported and distributed by a company in Maidenhead. Mine came through the local branch of London Camera Exchange.
