Re: Laptop update

It certainly used to be the case that standard laptop screens had a relatively small colour gamut compared to typical desktop screens - I haven't checked for a while but worth considering if you can...

Re: Black Panasonic 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 OIS G

I would like to get 135 inc shipping and the auto lens cap (both original caps too, but no box)

Re: Black Panasonic 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 OIS G

No, I still have it.

I was just about to close this thread as I've sourced the 12-32mm Panny I was looking for. I'd consider selling it for a reasonable price... do you have a sum in mind?

Re: Black Panasonic 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 OIS G

Thanks - I saw that but was hoping to get one for less than that. I may have to go for it though, if there's noone here who has one to let go.

Re: Black Panasonic 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 OIS G

Well, I had a good offer from someone wanted to liberate a silver one, but I just don't think it looks right on a black body... very tempted though.

Are there no black ones out there?

Black Panasonic 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 OIS G

... for a small Panasonic body I now own.

I have a black Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ as a potential trade. Bought new from SRS but hardly used and in excellent condition. Includes...

Re: E-M1 Mark II Friedman guide

I wonder about these very frequent references to Olympus cameras having complex menu systems. I just don't think it's the case that they're any worse than any other brand.

I regularly teach...

Re: OlyVision

Agree about the white text on black - it just makes it harder to read on a screen. Unless I zoom in, the white characters get squeezed (look like they're poorly printed).

Re: Diffraction confusion!

I don't think the pixel pitch matters unless you're viewing at 100%... the viewed image size and viewer distance is what determines the perceived sharpness. As someone said earlier the DoF estimates...

Re: Thank you for having me

I, presumably like many others here, have made the transition from 4/3 to micro 4/3. Passing through a phase of owning both types of lens, I've now fully converted to micro 4/3.

To be honest, if...

Re: Thank you for having me

The artefacts look like over-aggresive JPG compression to me.... with perhaps some noise, although the ISO isn't that high according to the EXIF for images that have the data.

Re: dissassemling lens cap

That looks like the 12-40 lens cap... strangely, mine disintegrated in the same way just a few days ago. It seems that the whole thing is held together by just a couple of dabs of glue on that outer...

Re: Printer profiling

Ok - so, given you're using the correct printer profile and have turned off driver colour management, have you checked that the correct profile is applied to your monitor?

If so, either one or...

Re: How do you handle a / edit / select from a mass of images

Your source is incorrect... "delete all" *might* do an incomplete job but "format" will clean the card up completely.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Here are a few pictures taken at The Hawk Conservancy, near Andover. BiF are not something I've tried before, so reasonably pleased with these (there were a lot more that I discarded!).

Re: Battery charging 'in the field'

Well, it's certainly not an overload... I'd check the inverter spec to see if it says there's a minimum load... If it was plugged in without a battery in place, the load would be even less so you...

Re: Battery charging 'in the field'

The E-M1 MkII charger draws 25W according to its spec
so 150W is plenty... though there may be a minimum load spec for the inverter.
