Re: How does one do Smartphone?

Not sure if this will help, or muddy the water even more... There is an option called 1p Mobile --> https://www.1pmobile.com/ which might be worth searching out. Basically, you pay 1p per call, per...

Re: Does picture mode 3 (Vivid) improve AF?

Interesting comment. I've no idea if it has any effect to be honest but shooting raw+jpg I do always have vivid mode set for my jpgs. Just because that's how I like them. It gives me a nice bright...

Re: Oly 12-100 IS switch.

On my 300mm f4, if I turn the lens stabilisation switch off it changes the info on the SCP to 'S-IS Off'. The image in the viewfinder is also noticeably a lot less stable.

Re: Oly 12-100 IS switch.

I have "Dual IS" switched on all the time with the camera in iAuto mode.

As soon as I go in the studio, it all gets switched off as 95% is shot with flash.

I tend to think of lens IS working...

Re: Oly 12-100 IS switch.

Perhaps you have a very steady hand.....

Try two 4 second exposures with IS on and off. See if you tell a difference then. However I think Bassman51 hit the nail on the head. Fast BIFs really...

Re: How are we going to save the planet?

I believe AAC is a more efficient codec than mp3 so should sound better at the same bit rate. The BBC use 320k AAC for their “hi definition “ radio streams, and Radio 3 certainly sounds pretty good....

Re: How are we going to save the planet?

I find MP3 seems to reduce a full orchestra to 'mush'. My feeling is that ogg files are a bit better, whereas FLAC files definitely are.
