Common Tern Fishing

A Common Tern fishing at Strumpshaw Fen the other day. In the sixth shot it is completely submerged, apart from the wing tips. It must take a huge amount of strength to haul itself out of the water...

Re: Hobby Hunting Dragonflies

Many thanks for the comments and 'likes'. They are really exhilarating birds to watch. At one point it flew straight towards me but I was so surprised that I wasn't quick enough to focus on it. I...

Re: A few more Eagles from Mull.

Superb shots Dave. It's bird which I have never seen, although we get the odd individual visiting my area from time to time.

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

For some reason that link appears to be to my gallery! Does this one work?

Re: Took the old girl for day out.

Hmm. As the title to the last image is 'Dream on ...' I suspect that might not actually be BT's car. Apologies if I am barking up the wrong tree (to continue the Beagle theme). When did 86...

Re: Nice bark

What amazing camouflage. Two great shots Walti, especially the second one.

The Tree Creepers near me must have even more cryptic plumage as I haven't spotted one for months. :D

Re: Throstle

Lovely shots of this perky and confident looking little Song Thrush Andrew. It's good to know that shiny new ones are still being produced in some parts of the country, as they are a thing of the...

Hobby Hunting Dragonflies

This Hobby was hunting Dragonflies from a distant dead tree in the reedbeds at Strumpshaw Fen yesterday. It was about 6.30 in the evening and light was not that good which did not help with the...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Walti, it is lovely seeing those Cinnabar Moth caterpillars feeding on Ragwort. It has taken me straight back 60 years to my youth. *chr

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

I hadn't seen a Gatekeeper this year until today and suddenly they were all over the place. It's slightly depressing seeing those blackberries forming though. I am still waiting for summer to arrive....

Re: Focus point indication during playback

Thanks Bill. I posted my settings in another thread, so I have copied them and updated them slightly, as I don't think I have changed much since then.

C-AF (not tracking); Silent Shutter,...

Focus point indication during playback

I am struggling to get any shots in focus when using C-AF and I suspect that I am failing to get the AF point accurately on the chosen subject when I press the shutter button. I thought I would see...

Re: Confiding Chinese Water Deer

I was trying to make out why I could only see three legs but I think the front left is in line with the other one. That's a relief! I think this particular deer looks even more dog-like than usual....

Confiding Chinese Water Deer

An unusually confiding Chinese Water Deer at Carlton Marshes. Normally, as soon as they spot me they bound away and disappear but this one carried on feeding, unfazed by my presence.

E-M1 II,...

Re: Fishnet Stocking...

If it's 20-30mm long it's a rather fascinating chrysalis. If it's 2 metres I'm out of here!

Re: Red Kite + Butterflies

Nicely captured Barr1e. It seems strange to see Red Kites in that setting as it is still a red letter day if I spot one near me. I never see Marbled Whites here either.

I really hope Olympus is working on some extra subjects for tracking, in addition to 'trains, planes and automobiles'. If they could provide that in a firmware update it would broaden the camera's...

What a great looking bird Ross. Lovely shots in a great setting. I like the way its eyes match the privet berries.

Re: Going Nowhere...........

That is a lovely, tranquil scene Mark. Despite being completely the opposite side of Britain, it has a remarkably similar feel to Wells harbour near me.

Re: Barn Owl in Evening Light

Many thanks for the comments and 'likes'.

The little spots surrounding the owl are either midges or windblown seeds (or both) caught in the sunlight,. They are not dust bunnies - it is an Olympus...
