You have captured so much of the texture and subtle colours (esp number one) it is delicate and yet substantial - very...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Ron never seen the underwing on a curlew before. Really bright, jazzy and makes the image. Always seen them as dull before, nice to see the reality. (and agree with Mark - the Harrier is OK too ;)

Re: Wrinkled Peach Fungi

It is as pretty as a peach ;)

Especially appreciate the last shot. I usually try and avoid the cobwebs but on that shot they add to it as do the dew drops. *chr

Re: Barn Owl in Evening Light

Lovely, evocative images Ron. It is a delight to be suddenly in their presence and it passes so quickly. Good that you can now get images to remember and be proud of as well.

I sometimes think...

Re: A Newt About to Hibernate

Lovely shots. I used to keep newts as a small boy. I had small tanks in the garden and used to raise the young. It was just outside my fathers tropical fish shed. So I had a supporter.

I still...

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

I have much the same feeling towards insects that have failed to emerge cleanly and have a bent or malformed wing. They deserve our attention as much as the perfect. Several artists would only paint...

Re: Young Chinese Water Deer

Ron,

I am very envious and pleased for you. Wonderful shots of a normally shy animal. What an opportunity.

Re: Plasterer Bee Colletes hederae via Lumix Leica 100-400mm

I am impressed by these shots Harold. That is a lens I would be interested in when the servicing is improved by Panasonic. I'd like to try it alongside their 50-200. Macro is good in many situations...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

It is strange, we all have our fear/ughhh trigger points. I am fine with picking up spiders and many types of insects. However, with Grasshoppers, crickets and dragonflies I'm not so keen. And in...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

All this talk of hornet poop made me go and find my pictures from June, and just a couple which show the less gory latter stages (wings and legs and other unwanted bits chopped and dropped).

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

I appreciate it isn't poop, but I believed frass was also used for the leftovers from wood-borers - which I guess is also not excreted. I simply extended that to apple boring. A step too far *chr
