Re: Noise issues

I was under the impression that safety-critical systems had to be implemented in triplicate and the final decision made on a "best of three" principle?

Re: 40-150 Pro vs. 50-200 SWD

In fairness to the SWD would it not be better to test it on one of the newer mFT bodies rather than the E3 used in the Lenstip tests?

Re: 40-150 Pro vs. 50-200 SWD

On my screen I can't tell a difference at all Mark, so in what way do you think the Pro is better? The Pro possibly has a slightly higher contrast?

Re: Coverdale Barn

Thanks all for the comments. Actually I took several shots but this was the first and imho the best; the lone tree works well whereas I included a few more in the other shots - in retrospect a...

Re: 10 Hour Working Week

Here's a slightly less sensationalist article from the Guardian on the same study:

Re: Short break in the Cotswolds

Nice work Phill, reminds me of being taken to those places by my parents when I was a child. Any of those would make a nice chocolate box or jigsaw picture but no.3 is my favourite!

Re: Quiraing

The dark treatment looks exactly right to me, suggesting dusk (or dawn) very well.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

I usually prefer Zuiko lenses but bought this Panny because I wanted the extra 2mm at the wide end vs the Zuiko 14-42, plus it's tiny. Oly don't offer anything 12mm wide and tiny as far as I'm aware....

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

Re: Interesting interview with Olympus engineers

An intriguing interview, particularly with regard to pixel count. I personally think 20MP is enough for most applications. The bits about coatings and weather-sealing were interesting too, the...

Re: Olympus OI Track / OI Share

It's easy enough when you get used to it :). Turn the camera's wi-fi on and connect the phone to it. Set the camera's clock, turn off the wi-fi, start gps logging. At the end of the trip, turn off...

Re: Olympus OI Track / OI Share

The E-M1X has it built in, obviously they want you to buy one of those! Logging GPS on OI Track isn't the issue, that's very easy (as long as you remember to press "start") but hiding the "geotag...

Re: Olympus OI Track / OI Share

Two days later and I just had to read the OP to find out how to geotag yesterday's pics. It really isn't intuitive, and my short term memory is obviously shot to ribbons!

Coverdale Barn

I liked the look of this old barn above Coverham in the Yorkshire Dales. It would be a shame if it's allowed to fall further into dereliction.

I don't see why not, assuming you're using both bodies on the same outing. Once you've finished logging connect the first one, upload the log file, disconnect that one, connect the second and upload...

Re: Olympus OI Track / OI Share

Geotags are added to both .jpg and raw files, latitude and longitude in DMS format and altitude in feet or meters.

Here's a sample entry in the raw gps data file that's written to the camera's SD...
