Re: New firmware finally imminent?

I'd quite like to see better options for multiple exposure in camera... ie more than 2 frames and a bigger choice of blending modes. I doubt it will happen though.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

If you find IS useful, it's worth getting the Panny lens for the GX800 as the body has no IS, whereas the lens does. The 14-42 Oly lens doesn't have IS so you'd be back in the good old days before IS...

Re: Exporting settings to external file

If you've updated your E-M1 MkII at some point, you can find the saved settings files from updates etc in:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\OLYMPUS\CameraSettings\Auto

on a Windows system.

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

Of course, but if you decide to stop paying the subscription then you'd have made the decision to move to a new software package for editing.

The important thing is that you don't lose access to...

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

You don't lose all function if you stop your subscription - only the Develop and Map modules stop working:

Re: Canon 10s panaramas

Sorry to labour the point, but what do you mean by 'necessary size HxW'? Your image aspect ratio must match exactly the aspect ratio of the area being printed on the paper. Note that this is not the...

Re: Canon 10s panaramas

Does the aspect ratio of the print match the aspect ratio of the image? Unless these are identical, the printed image must be either cropped on one axis or have one axis shrunk to fit the other axis...

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

I'm with you on the subscription front.

Don't forget that just because a company might say they have no plans to remove the purchase option, that can change. You can only guarantee that you'll...

Re: Old Town Harbour, Raw vs JPEG

Not sure it's worth a separate thread. Just go to the Develop module, move down to and open the Camera Calibration section of the RH panel and the Profile entry allows you to select the profile you...

Re: Canon 10s panaramas

Canon printers have a length limitation of something like 23 to 26" for panorama printing (I've seen figures around these extremes quoted). My own iP8750 is limited to 26.6". This is a printer driver...

Re: Old Town Harbour, Raw vs JPEG

Lightroom also has the Olympus presets (in the Camera Calibration panel of the Develop module). These are almost certainly not the exact settings used by the camera but a close approximation using...

Some of the newer potential Lightroom replacements offer migration tools that purport to import your images along with any edits that you have made in Lightroom. Based on what I've read so far, this...

Re: Indiscreet "special" phone charges

The SMS character limit is 160. As you say, if you exceed that, they are sent as multiple texts, which (in theory) should also be free if you have a large text message allowance. Vodafone (and...

Re: Panasonic 100-400 Photo Show saga. Buyers warning.

I took a look at this... you have to have a relatively high-end body registered to be eligible, it seems. Even though I have a 100-400, I only have a GX80 Panny body and that ain't good enough. I was...

Re: A nice boost for u43 from Sharp

Thanks - that looks interesting - I'll read it later.

I did add the caveat that technology improvements could mitigate the noise so I shall lean on that as a response to your counter-examples. :)

Re: A nice boost for u43 from Sharp

At the individual pixel level, I think it's inarguable that noise increases as the size of the cell decreases - your comment suggests you support that, Paul.

Do you have a pointer to any...

Re: A nice boost for u43 from Sharp

I'm quite happy with 20 megapixels - the print size possible with 20MP is plenty good enough for most work. While more pixels would allow tighter cropping, going higher resolution would necessarily...

Probably not, but it will no doubt be referenced by some with pro-Brexit leanings.

Re: The power of technology

This is a claim, of course, not verified. It may be true, and their description is plausible, but it is still just a claim at the moment. With their stated support for Brexit, they have a vested...
