Re: Memory Card OM-D E-M1 Mark II suggestions

How can a buyer be sure they are getting a genuine card and not a lookalike? Is the seller at this link known to be reputable?

Sparrowhawk. a peregrine would be exceptional (and catches its prey in the air).

Re: Hello from Leamington Spa

BTW that's a great offer not to be turned down lightly. Paul does great work, especially landscapes, and is very knowledgeable about Oly kit too.

Re: Forum Sill Plagued With Gateway Problems

(1) If there's one thing likely to lose moderators from forums, it's people constantly quibbling about their decisions. (Even greater risk on this forum which seems to be vastly subsidised of losing...

Re: Forum Sill Plagued With Gateway Problems

Depends what "views" you use to navigate the forum.

Quite often I look at the "recent posts" view. That shows up off topic as well as on topic stuff . Sometimes I look at an individual's posting...

Re: I need a fix...

My Hotpoint Aquarius Reversomatic 9326 is at least 25 years old and still has its original bearings I think. (I bought it used about 1999). I don't think they make many things to last like that...

Re: Forum Sill Plagued With Gateway Problems

Personally I think there are plenty of places online to air and argue views on political matters. I sometimes have that sort of discussion on FaceBook. I value this as a place for discussing...

Re: I need a fix...

One of the difficulties is that modern manufacturers deliberately and systematically and purposefully create built-in obsolescence. They make things which they know won't last so as to cut costs and...

GDPR and (UK) photographers' rights

Hi. Does anyone know of some good resources / guidance in this area? Looking around the web there seem to be multiple interpretations (from people with sometimes questionable expertise) varying from...

Re: Club Photographic Competitions

some people may be perfectly clubbable but not at all competitive, and maybe even find the notion of scoring and comparing quite different images as unpleasant.

Re: F1.2 pro glass

I'm a little bit mystified why this fashion for using low depth of field to create subject isolation has become so widespread and unchallenged. It arose from a limitation of lenses. 70 years ago...

Re: Panasonic G VARIO 12-32mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH Mega O.I.S Lens, Black.

Even "brand new" digital cameras don't come with a zero shutter count. They've been tested at some point in an undocumented chain from manufacturing, through QA processes, distribution & supply...

Re: Club Photographic Competitions

I'd say that photography is a *particular* art form. If someone composes a piano sonata or creates a sophisticated stone circle on a mountainside or writes a novel or choreographs a ballet, they may...

Re: BNIB, Panasonic G VARIO 12-32mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH Mega O.I.S Lens, Black.

As far as I'm aware photographic equipment doesn't come factory sealed. I wish it was. I think shops and Ebay sellers sometimes represent products as "new" when they've had a bit of use - either...

Re: Panasonic Leica D Vario Elmar 14-150 mm F3.5-5.6 lens.

There are cheaper lookalike adapters (but make sure you get one with the electrical connection, not just physical). Once you have an adapter a whole world of wonderful and affordable used four...

Re: Made the jump

5000! Sounds like a great buy. (Of course it may have had further electronic actuations which don't add to the internal count, and/or been used for video work.) It is a great camera.

You don't...

Re: Panasonic Leica D Vario Elmar 14-150 mm F3.5-5.6 lens.

Sounds like an amazing lens from what I've read, and something of a rarity. And I do love some of the old Four thirds lenses. But sadly I can't really justify the expense for a beautiful curiosity...

Re: Club Photographic Competitions

An interesting discussion.

For me, the point of photography is that the images are grounded in reality; they are representations (or "captures") of something the eye has seen. That's what...
