Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

No chance IMHO, Phil. I believe I heard someone from Olympus (?Mark Thakera) say it would only work with the 150-400, 300 and 40-150 Pros.

For me the latter would be my main use case: especially...

You’ll all just have to put up with my dulcet tones (better than the visuals, probably :D ).

It was good to chat to Mark...

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

Those Oly prices Ian showed above are good, but the savings are based on what the prices went up to from bricks-and-mortar suppliers a cou0le of weeks ago - overall youíre still saving, but much less...

The Photography Show: other new gear

Thought it might be of interest to have a thread covering some of the other new gear at the show, especially those only available on one stand.

Ricoh GRIII - only on the Wex stand I believe, and...

Re: Club Photographic Competitions

Sure, in which case those people wonít enter club competitions and some will conclude clubs arenít for them. Iíd suggest they may still find camera clubs worth joining: weíve got plenty of members...

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

Iím going to resist all those, but I had a prolonged play with the new Ricoh GRIII, and itís going to be hard to resist as a replacement for my X70.

Itís noticeably smaller than the II and focuses...

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400 on Olympus Body - Problems

Iím sure itís a good idea to get the Olympus elves to clean it out if you can.

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

If itís any use to people judging what time to arrive, I got a lift to the show today and arrived in the waiting area around 09.20. I didnít have FastTrack, but I was in the leading group walking...

Re: F1.2 pro glass

I was using the Depth of Field Calc iOS app, and settings for 15í - yes, as you say, this will depend a lot on how you define dof (which isnít a set quantity visually anyway, gradually fading away...

Re: Photo Show Camera Cleaning Warning

They ask if you want updating, and warn that all settings are wiped if you do. I asked both bodies to be left, and they were.

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Itís as big as yer Ďyed, as an old school friend of mine used to say.

Of course that shot is made more impressive by having the hood extended, but it looks like the body of the thing is milled...

Re: F1.2 pro glass

Interesting.
There are several things going on here.
First, I’m 100% in agreement that the current mindless obsession with ultra-shallow dof is exactly that: mostly I think portraits where only...

Re: F1.2 pro glass

Iím not sure I agree that the differences in dof are slight.

It does depend on your particular use case, but for me doing street photography of small groups of people around 12-15í away, 17mm at...

Re: Sad, if true

I do hope one of the releases expected this year turns out to be a high quality, properly small camera: a tilt or flip screen plus 'decent' CAF would do nicely, thanks.

Mine's just an amateurish, blurry B&W print, roughly snipped out. Does that make me a bad person?

Re: Poor Oly QA, cosmetic defect on new camera.

Not good.

However it can happen to the best: a friend of mine showed me his new Leica Q the other week, with a nasty speck of dust smack bang in the middle of the viewfinder. That's gone back, too.
