Chinese phone spam

Anyone else getting spam calls from a robot, in Chinese? I've had a few of these in the past week, coming apparently from local or UK mobile numbers. Since everyone I know is in my contacts and...

Re: GF6 for infra-red conversion?

I should add that of course there's also the 'full spectrum' option, where they just remove whatever-it-is they remove, and don't add any internal filter. You can then add different wavelength...

Re: GF6 for infra-red conversion?

Yes, get it done professionally. With either ACS, or Protech Photographic in Sussex, who did my latest conversion, and had it back to me in 5 days, including a bank holiday monday! Very impressed.

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

Yeah, that's Lloyds' of London, the 'inside out' building. Great subject.

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

No, I get that. Their exhibitions leave me pretty cold, and I don't warm to the "arty bollocks" (as Zuiko rightly put it!) that surrounds most of their utterances. Certainly this kind of stuff would...

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

For those wanting to see some of the original images, here are a few comparisons of before (out of camera) and after (LR, PS and iPad processed). The bulk of the panel shots were taken around the...

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

Thank you, Mark. I agree, the standard is daunting today ... I'm sure my 'A' (19 years ago!) would never have cut it at that level today. I was all the more surprised, therefore, to succeed at this...

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

There's a whole long saga here, Phill. The short version is that the whole thing is as much about 'figuring out the game' as it is being good at photography.

I went to a couple of Advisory Days...

Re: When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

I got the 'L' by exemption by having done a City & Guilds Photography certificate in the mid 90's, and the 'A' in the late 90's. Always say I got the 'A' by accident, as it hadn't crossed my mind to...

When you gotta brag, you gotta brag...

Not usually given to blowing my own trumpet, but going to make an exception just this once, since I'm sufficiently chuffed to do so ..

I just gained my FRPS! :D

I'm sure this audience will all...

Some recent infrared

Hello folks. I haven't actually shared anything here in an age, for which apologies, but Life, other plans, you know the old one.

Anyway, I just had my Pen-F (which was by now my 'backup' camera)...

Re: What will you be doing/buying at this year's Photography Show?

Mark,

I'm not going to the show this year, but if you decide you'd like a Peak Design 30L in charcoal, hold off and pm me .... I have one 'as new' I'm sure we can come to some arrangement on! :)...

Re: WD Store for students

Interesting. They obviously don't know that anyone can obtain a free Open University email account, whether actually a 'student' or not. Which you could then use to get discounts on this site. :D...

Re: Affinity Photo Version 1.6

Yes, I did the same in the end, given that I'd got the software via the Mac store. However, I DID have an email/password for the Affinity site already, and they obviously knew that as they were...

Re: Affinity Photo Version 1.6

I'm having that issue too. Despite the fact that I have an email and password for Affinity stored in my password manager, their site is resolutely refusing to let me login in to 'my account'. :(

Serif are rumoured to be working on an Affinity digital asset management product, which could be their pot-shot at LR. If it's as good as Affinity Photo is at doing what PS does (but a lot more...

Re: New Features for Photoshop CC 2018

One issue when upgrading is that the 2018 version may not 'find' all your plugins, most notably the Nik ones, and individual Topaz filters. You need to copy the plugins folder content from your old...
