Re: Friday Question - 19 Feb 2016

Currently stuck here in California, with the US on major primary debate and reporting, this hits a nerve...if I can avoid a TV screen I do, but even beach bars seem to have screens everywhere!

Re: raw v jpeg experiment.

Don't understand what you are trying to say.

Jpeg uses the camera settings to convert the raw data
Raw, in this context, uses subsequently applied settings to convert the raw data with the option...

Re: Go wild with an olympus!

with the exception of a weasel an stoat that proved harder to keep up with than anything previously attempted (think shooting wrens in flight at 10ft!) it wasn't really an action environment!

Re: Focus

this enables you to get an OOF shot - personally I don't see this as progress!

without knowing the type of shot and lens you are using, and in what conditions, it's hard to consider 'solutions'...

Re: Focal length conundrum

only if the two lenses are the same length - it's the sensor plane you want to be the same distance from the subject each time.

Re: Focal length conundrum

unless you put the camera on a tripod and leave it there it's really easy to 'adjust' the working distance when changing lenses - the natural reference on close up shots is the front lens element...

Re: Processing in Photoshop CS5

so much depends on what you are trying to extract/render and how much processing you are doing where (and that's before the issue of batch and workflow!)

OV3 is clunky but will produce excellent...

Re: E-M1 and fill in flash

Gary

Fascinating stuff - the key problem being that there are sooooooo many variables in the equation; and more than one equation in your post!

Not intended as 'an answer' but here are a few of...

Re: Olympus Image Share - Connection Problem

yep - that, and the corollary of trying to upload a file to flikr while still connected to the camera, get me more often than they should!

Re: Olympus Image Share - Connection Problem

the post you link clearly has problems, but once you have paired the devices the QR code won't reconnect - it will be looking elsewhere as it already knows that one.

otoh this isn't the issue you...

Re: How do I over or under expose with Auto ISO

my understanding is that these are the right processes but the wrong order

ISO sets the sensor gain for the capture then the jpeg engine renders the image as instructed by the user (default...

Re: How do I over or under expose with Auto ISO

don't stop dreaming Ross!

personally I would have thought that simply using the read dial (thumb) whilst the EV button is pressed and held (forefinger) would be the simplest, and most consistent,...

definitely a possible, even probable, if it remains after a hard reset of the jpeg settings etc

if the WB is having to be tweaked to correct then the other possibility is a faulty WB sensor -...

Re: FL-36 Flash with OMD EM-10

the FL range of flashes have an AF assist light built in that is triggered by the camera to assist in the Auto focus function in very poor light (those annoying red flashes!) - it could be disabled...

Re: How do I over or under expose with Auto ISO

you will have to explain this a little more - I'm afraid the only thing I can relate to AE shift is Ps, which changes the shutter/aperture relationship in Program mode but has no impact on exposure...

Re: How do I over or under expose with Auto ISO

Re: How do I over or under expose with Auto ISO
