Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I would think aesthetics are quite low down on the list of priorities for professional photographers. They are probably far more interested in how comfortable the grip is, especially with a long lens...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I'm not a fan of the cold weather so I haven't been out with my camera since before Christmas. Here is a shot I found on my hard drive of a ruffled Ruff at Strumpshaw Fen back in September.

Re: Mentioning the umentionable...

Apart from anything else the lack of a WYSIWYG viewfinder on a DSLR would make it a non starter for me now.

Re: Interesting article from Thom Hogan about mirrorless in 2019

There is an interesting thread on DPReview at the moment, entitled 'Latest E-M1X tidbits (MAJOR, if true).' I have no idea whether it is true or not but, if it is, Olympus might have wrong footed...

Re: Half ar-ed email from Olympus

Yes I received it too. I think they were adapting an earlier email for the E-M1 Mk2 and pressed the wrong button. I hope they haven't updated the camera's menus to Latin.

Re: Horsey Gap seals

A nice selection of shots. In the past we have parked at Winterton car park by the cafe and walked north across the dunes. After a while there is a ramp on the right hand side providing access to the...

Re: Upton Staithe, Norfolk, 4th December 2018

Very evocative shots of my home county. I especially like number two. I believe Upton is an excellent area for butterflies and dragonflies in the summer, although I haven't visited it myself.

Re: How to Post Photos?

I think there must be a problem with the way the photos have been uploaded. They are visible in an album called Holga Toy Lens but they do not appear as they should. When I click on the photo nothing...

Re: Olympus 150 - 400

I find magnification impossible to use at 420mm. Do you use a tripod or are your hands just steadier than mine?

Re: Olympus 150 - 400

If I tried that I would probably end up with lots of photos of my feet, grass or both.

Re: How to Post Photos?

I have never used the method explained by Walti. This is the method which I have always used here.

I have two tabs open in my browser: one for the thread dialogue box and the other for the photo...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

The trouble is that there is now so much hype surrounding this new camera and so many people hoping for it to be a massive failure that Olympus have to produce something truly spectacular. I really...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

The video shows two different lenses with different shaped hoods. I thought the one near the start was the 300mm f4, but I haven't checked it against mine.

From the video it appears that it is only suitable for use by female photographers! That's a shame. ;)

Hunter's Moon

I was watching this Kestrel hunting in the evening at Wells-next-the-sea when it flew away and perched on some power lines with the rising moon behind it. The unusual setting appealed to me.

I photographed this obliging Robin a few weeks ago. It was obviously practising posing for all those Christmas card shots.

Re: Opinions sought

All the above - plus there were many reports of the rear dial and strap lugs failing on the Mk I version. Touch wood, I haven't noticed any similar problems being reported with the Mk II.
