Too late as usual

It's a shame the "Weather" forum challenge has ended. I was shooting rugby this aftie, and it was one of the nastiest afternoons I have ever had to spend out of doors.

Re: 100 Word Story

Off-topic I know, but I rather like one that is, possibly apocryphally, attributed to Ernest Hemingway. In some sort sort of competition or bet to write a story in 6 words, he is alleged to have...

Re: From E-510 to OM-D E-M5

Some years ago I bought the m43 40-150 from a forum member (sorry, can't remember who or exactly when). It is lovely, very light weight, and can produce excellent results. Here is one I trot out from...

Re: Film scanners - anyone use Vuescan?

Thanks Andy.

Might just go for the free trial anyway, but would still be glad to hear of any more real-life experience.

Re: Film scanners - anyone use Vuescan?

Thank you both, sounds promising so far.

Derek - is the software specific to a scanner, or did you just use the same version with both your Canon and Epson scanners?

Film scanners - anyone use Vuescan?

I have a Nikon Coolscan V film scanner for 35mm film and am using it with Nikon's own software to scan negs and slides for a Windows 10 64-bit system.

The Nikon software isn't pretty but I am used...

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

I think Walti's post to get us onto a new page fixed it. Looks like the gremlins were having fun and have moved on to pastures new now :)

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

The page index under the last post says "page 14 of 17" and has entries for pages 15, 16 and Last - all of which bring you back to page 14.

Re: New homes 'crumbling due to weak mortar'

Masonic handshakes, I suspect :)

The cathedral is a little bit higher than the meadows. During these floods the close very nearly flooded, but the meadows cover a huge area so once it is all...

Re: New homes 'crumbling due to weak mortar'

It's nothing new - Salisbury is a pretty old city which was all built on a flood plain! Which is not all bad, it gives us some good photo ops occasionally, and so far (cross fingers, touch wood,...

Re: EM-1 Shutter sticking closed

Glad you are sorted, but it's a bit worrying if they don't have parts so soon. I would have thought they will run out of new bodies far sooner if they keep just replacing them!

Re: Lens Fungus

I think the fungus eats the coatings rather than the glass. That may explain why Mark sees horrible-looking stuff in his old Elmar - the fungus may be gone but the half-digested coatings are still...

Re: Olympus 35RC

I would think that if you already have one of those magical little Rolleis Steve then the 35RC/D wouldn't offer too much extra. Apart from being nice to have, of course :)

And I've just noticed...

Re: Olympus 35RC

It was the first camera that I bought for myself (for about 50 quid in 1874 if memory serves) and I still think it is lovely. I don't recall having had problems with focus or the rangefinder, and I...
