Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I bemused. Have Oly lost their collective minds? Presumably the subject recognition ("Deep AI" :)) is just software. If so, they really should have further developed it to include animals, birds...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

The pre-release hype was all about "totally redesigned CAF" - but it seems from the DPReview video that all they've done is add a new subject recognition feature - which is currently limited to...

Re: E-M1 II Firmware Upgrade 2.3

Wow - improved stability writing to UHSII cards! I can hardly wait.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

This is a good review (if you can cope with video reviews - personally I prefer something to read):

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

From early reviews it seems that it's got great advances in terms of hand held high res, live ND and improved IBIS. BUT, and I think this is crucial, CAF is pretty much the same as ever unless...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Well of course Steve - but gear in itself can bring pleasure. And there's beauty in the tech too.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I guess it's clear that this is mainly aimed at sports & wildlife photographers. The addition of the hand-held hi-res mode is perhaps a bit gratuitous, but maybe a useful proving ground for later...

Re: Olympus 8mm f1.8 Fisheye

Sorry to disappoint. If you're really keen, give Bengeo a ping - he saw a good deal on a new one I think.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Actually, I'm leaning towards these specs being a hoax. The English has lots of errors in it which raises my suspicions. It's also so close to the E-M1ii's specs that I wondering if someone has...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Yeah, damp squib is where my head is at the moment. I'm not calling it until the formal release and early reviews, but based on these specs, it's sounding like a warmed up E-M1ii with an improved...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

So, reading between the lines and comparing to the E-M1ii:

- Same resolution (and probably same sensor)
- Same number of AF points
- Same EVF panel
- Same LCD rear screen
- Same burst mode...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I wonder just how many pro photographers there are these days. From what little I see of the professional world these days it's a fraction of what it used to be. Building a business model selling...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I suffer from GAS somewhat (!), but this camera is so far down the GAS scale that I'd rather buy an E-M5ii again (so cute!). This body size, weight and format may be be good for sports etc, but they...

Olympus 8mm f1.8 Fisheye

I've decided that my plan to do some wide-field astro isn't going to happen so I'm selling the 8mm f1.8 fisheye I bought for the exercise. Lens is in excellent condition with only the slightest...
