Re: Hummingbirds

Hi Mark,

Tough call. It depends a bit on what kind of vegetation and flowers they will be hovering around... trade-off between maximizing the detail and risk of clipping the subject when shooting...

Re: Thornton Pickard 5x4" half-plate view camera?

They didn’t make lenses...

Re: Thornton Pickard 5x4" half-plate view camera?

Modern large format lenses are all sized for Copal shutters, which probably wouldn't work well with this. They have elements either side of the shutter.

If you can identify the thread on the lens...

You could try the UK Film and Darkroom User forum, there are a few members who dabble in such things I think.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Acceptable sharpness does depend very much on how you are viewing the image and conventional circle of confusion calculations make assuptions about that. With my wildlife shots, I find that I am...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

The graphs plotted with StepCount are not greatly different to those in metres, other than the left axis being reversed. Although FocusStepCount is very much not a linear relationship to distance,...

Re: More from Botswana

Some lovely photos there! We're off next month for a ten day DIY safari in the Kruger. There's been plenty of rain so some of the animals and birds will be difficult to see amongst the vegetation.
