Your original is very close to being a "Golden Rectangle" and with a very small crop, could put the tree spot on the origin of the spiral.

The SCR in the circuit closes (like a switch) to trigger either the camera or the flash. The SCR I used is rated to 1000V so no problem using old guns with high trigger voltages.
