Re: Nothing new from Olympus at Photokina, but...

Ah - I see. The widest available aperture doesn't vary when zooming (i.e. more like the 12-40 f/2.8;not like the 12-60 f/2.8-f/4).

Sounds an interesting lens spec for indoors - perhaps especially...

Re: Nothing new from Olympus at Photokina, but...

Fixed aperture? 'Scuse my ignorance but do you mean that it has to be on f/1.7 whether you like it or not?

Re: Lens size versus distance...

And a Four Thirds (or micro Four thirds) sensor is 18mm x 13.5mm I think.

Subject size and subject distance have to be in the same units as each other (any unit will do; could be inches if you...

Re: It came away in her hands

A bit disappointing that something as simple as a lens hod should be over-engineered to such an extent that it regularly fails in normal use. Life expectancy (if not warranties) should be in decades...

Photography, it seems, mainly has to be quick and opportunistic, so as not to bore one's dearest. :-)

Re: Olympus EM5 Mk II body, black, as new

I tried using the "Advanced search" feature (and have tried again) and it doesn't find your username. Is there a better way to find someone by name? I only asked in case you'd mis-spelled it. Anyway...

Re: Olympus EM5 Mk II body, black, as new

Out of curiosity I tried but failed to find raydotee on Ebay. I did find some well priced E-M5 IIs though ...

Don't need one myself; it was idle curiosity.

Re: Oly compared favourably with Canon full frame

I would think the 3x2 aspect ratio would affect both cameras equally.

Re: Strange Behaviour On Ebay

My wife is an author, and is sometimes amused to see used copies of her books billed as rarities and selling for silly prices, when it is still in print and available at cover price.

Some people...

Re: Command Flashguns

I've struggled with the RC mode without much success. Great in principle and sometimes it works but it seems very erratic and temperamental. Basically the use of pre-flashes as a communication method...

Re: Is anyone still looking for a used 40-150 Pro?

Does indeed sound like a good price. If I didn't already have the wonderful FT 50-200 ...

I expect the 40-150 Pro has quicker and more accurate AF (as most M43 lenses have) and exemplary IQ, but...

Nice to feel I'm in the younger category, in this context at least.

Olympus really ought to look into usability issues if we're representative of their customer base. As we age, we encounter more...

Re: silent shutter - underexposure

I get the points that have been made, but when you're using aperture priority, isn't it reasonable to expect some kind of warning if it knows it will underexpose?

silent shutter - underexposure

Hi. A tech question if I may.

I understand that when I select electronic / silent shutter mode, it won't expose for more than 1/8th of a second.

I find too often when I'm on my common...

Re: Zuiko 50-200 recommendation

Yes, great lens for IQ (though not as compact or lightweight as some). I love mine.
