FYI - the moderators have decided to close this thread overnight while we can't keep an eye on it, for the time being.

Re: ISO & Digital Sensors

Interestingly, I wrote about digital camera ISO in a recent technical help answer for Amateur Photographer magazine - basically explaining why some cameras will produce a darker image using the same...

Re: Has anyone used a microphone wind muff on their camera?

Thanks Bailey,

I have external mics with their own wind muffs, but am keen to avoid having to bring them with me all the time :)

OK, good morning everyone. I'm reopening this thread but it will only stay open if the debate remains respectful and unprovocative. Please don't use extreme analogies that are likely to upset.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I'm sorry, but because there have been a number of complaints and the fact that moderators need to sleep, I'm suspending (not closing) the thread until tomorrow.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

The discussion is getting a too unsavoury - if it can't be grown-up and un-provocative, it will be closed.

You will be logged as if you were using the site via a web browser, so basically no difference.

Has anyone used a microphone wind muff on their camera?

I mean specifically one that attaches to the camera to protect the built-in microphone from wind noise - like a Micromuff (see: http://micromuff.com/).

Does anyone have any recommendations...

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

Bots are basically good because they raise the profile of the site. Very often when I search for something Olympus-related an e-group post ranks on the results page. Without bots this would not...

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

Can I just explain that the 'guests' issue is nothing to do with login security or human verification.

The guests represent mostly normal traffic to the site by either people (unregistered...

Re: Olympus E5 LCD replacement

E-M5 has an oled screen, so the construction is totally different (no back-light or LCD) and as the screen driver will be different the circuitry will be too. Also the E-M5 is a tilt up/down screen...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

You have to be a UK or qualifying Commonwealth citizen to be able to vote in the UK, so I don't think your suspicion is valid in this case.

But I do agree that fundamentally, immigration is the...

Most guests showing routinely are bots, to be honest. Others may be people visiting as a result of searches.

Welcome to the e-group!

I do like big cameras and DSLRs, of copurse - but carrying them is another matter, as you and countless others have or are beginning to discover.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I flew to and from Cork in January and the checks were thorough both ways.

If you remember, a few years back there was a furore because the border agency couldn't say who was or wasn't in the...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I have never ever seen that. A neighbour of mine works for Border Force at Heathrow - I will ask her how this could happen.

There was a time when you simply waved your passport at the officials...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

The immigration issue isn't about the checking at the border - this is already and has always been done at airports and ports, sometimes in France, before you board a train or a ferry. EU nationals...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I think you are confusing immigration control with customs. It's a two-stage process for arriving passengers; first you go through immigration where you either hand your passport to an official for...

I liked the...
