Re: Rocking Chairs

That Knight in the first one must have come from a big chess set. :) Nice shots Andrew.

They are all beautiful images Alf but I like the composition and light in number one the most.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I saw my first Redwings of the autumn today. They were rather wary and there was no cover to hide behind, so this quite a large crop.

An Autumn Visitor

Autumn migration has been rather slow at Lowestoft this year with the unfavourable south-westerly winds failing to bring in many birds. However, today I was pleased to find a Wheatear perched on the...

Re: The over-industrialisation of farming...

I don't think you will cause a major collapse in the price of saffron with that harvest Walti. A very entertaining post.

Re: Chinese

Thanks John. I wonder if the deer might be a youngster as it is in pristine condition. A lot of them look rather moth eaten with patchy coats and torn ears. They are extremely common in this part of...

Oh dear. The heading was obviously meant to be 'Chinese Water Deer' but I clicked the 'submit' button before proof reading my post. That'll learn me!

Chinese Water Deer

This little Chinese Water Deer, browsing amongst the reeds, was some compensation for the dearth of birds at a windswept Carlton Marshes on Monday.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I was at Carlton Marshes this evening and as I was walking back to the car I noticed an Egret feeding by the reeds which looked bigger than the others I had seen. As I was looking at it, it suddenly...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Large numbers of Red Admirals were battling against the strong winds today but this Speckled Wood caught my eye as it sunned itself amongst the fallen leaves.

E-M1 II and 300mm f/4.

That looks more like a Spotted Flycatcher to me Mark. A very nice bird either way.

Re: 300mm/4 Pro

Well done Daniel. It is a brilliant lens and I am sure you will continue to enjoy using it. Yours looks very different to mine with the sight, camo cover and tripod mount. The first thing I did was...

Re: Bird ID Please - Birds From The Garden

Yes, 'management' is correct. They are Great Tits, with an adult feeding juveniles in the first two and another juvenile in the third. Four and five are a juvenile Robin and I think you are correct...

That's a great find and two super shots Walti. I have never seen a Chough but I have never been to Cornwall either. :)

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Nice shots Mark. We too have been 'adopted' by over 40 House Sparrows and they have very healthy appetites. We have one fewer now, though, as one was taken by a Sparrowhawk this morning. Lynn noticed...

Re: Rubber grip falling off!

I repaired the grip on my Mark 1, using genuine Olympus parts from Luton Cameras. It was easy and the total cost including postage was 10. I don't know if the parts are available for the Mark 2 yet....

It shouldn't take too long under warranty. I am not sure but I think DavyG might have had a similar problem so he should be able to give you a better idea. It is rather disappointing that Olympus...

Very nice shots of a superb bird Tord. I haven't seen many Hobbies this year and the few I have seen haven't been photographable. It's getting a bit late now.

Re: Another Kingfisher

Thanks Mark. It is not very clear on these particular shots but there is red on the lower part of the bill, which means that it is a female (it's wearing lipstick.)
