Re: 12-40

A word of warning (and a bump).

The Olympus lens cap for the Zuiko 12 ~ 40 zoom is both expensive and delicate!

I had one replaced by Olympus under warranty, but I have put that in a safe...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

As you will know Jim more power = more torque and vice versa.

Remapping is claimed to get rid of flat spots which are a particular problem in naturally aspirated petrol engines; but anything that...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

Interesting. Volvo must be about the only manufacturer to actively endorse remapping. The claimed power gains from some diesel engines are quite staggering too, with 25 - 40% being easily achievable...

Re: Olympus E1 body only ** (almost) free **

I'm sure you will enjoy it Jim.

What the E1 lacks in megapixels and low light ability is more than made up for by its superb colours. Stick to 200 ASA and it will be fine.

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

Driving patterns have a big effect on fuel economy; possibly even more so than driving style.

Our little Corsa is seemingly up to temperature within about three or four miles, but the MPG is poor...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Why?

Surely a matter as important as Brexit should be cross-party rather than party political?

I can think of a few other departments that might be better run by cross-party...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

And that is exactly our problem. France has always put France first, even if it means ignoring EU rules. We simply do what we are told even when it is not in our interests.

Having worked for a...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Really? The French threatened to blockade their ports if we don't pay the Brexit divorce settlement in full, but they didn't stop the Germans in the 1940's.

Italy? Spain? Holland?

Our best bet...

Re: How are we going to save the planet?

Oh I don't know. I think there is a very real danger that if Jeremy did ever get into No. 10 we would never get him out again. Just look at Russian, Chinese and North Korean leaders and their...

What about Luxemburg? Amazon, eBay, Google, Facebook and many others declare their tax there so they must be loaded.

Now remind me, who was their PM?

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

If you look at the figures you will probably find the CO2 emissions are slightly lower; just enough to put it into a lower tax bracket.
