Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Lovely shots of Wheatears in a natural setting David. I haven't seen any yet this year, although a few have been arriving locally in the past few days.

Re: Male Marsh Harrier Hunting

I think they are cropped by about 20-30%. I did use C-AF + TR but I think that was a mistake. The green rectangle follows the subject about well but it relies on the initial focus lock being correct....

Male Marsh Harrier Hunting

A beautiful male Marsh Harrier hunting over the reedbeds at Strumpshaw Fen on Monday. At the moment BIFs are still very much hit or miss for me - mainly miss!

E-M1 II, 300mm f4 and MC-14.

Yes, it's an Eider drake Paul. A lovely shot of a handsome bird.

Re: Weirs, waterfalls and overflows

A great idea for a thread Chris, with some nice images. The shot of the Ladybower Plughole shows the awe inspiring engineering and is more than a little scary.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I don't really know Mark. I think they were just so greedy that they kept on feeding as I edged closer and closer. I was amazed by their tolerance.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

One of the Siskins which have been visiting my garden recently. It's the first time I have ever seen them there. I have posted some more shots in a separate thread if anybody is interested.

Re: Siskin Close Up

Thanks Phill. I was probably about 3 metres away at the closest point, standing in the open and moving about to try different viewpoints. They didn't budge but kept on feeding. I wish all birds were...

Re: Siskin Close Up

They certainly are. In the fifth shot it is fending off a Goldfinch which was attempting to land on the feeder.

I wish we had Redpolls visiting our feeders Jim.

Siskin Close Up

I had never seen a Siskin in our garden until a few days ago when three females turned up and started using the feeders. Since then they have been visiting daily but I was unable to get any shots of...

Re: Goldfinches with my MC-14

Thanks for the suggestion Dave but I really don't want to carry a tripod at all. The camera and lens are quite heavy enough and I spend more time walking around than sitting in one spot waiting for...

Re: Goldfinches with my MC-14

Thanks Marlene. They were taken hand held, although I think I was sitting down which helps. I never use a tripod as I don't like carrying the extra weight when I am walking about.

Re: Barn Owl Hunting

That's a beautiful image. I assume it was taken without the MC-14? I have been out to look for our local Barn Owls a few times recently but I keep missing them.

Re: Canard-ly Believe it

What an extremely interesting little aircraft Mark. Does it have a wheel or a skid at the front or something even more unusual?

Re: Issues with Olympus updater today

I just started OV3 and checked for software updates. It told me that I am using the latest version, so it seems that the server may be working correctly again now.

Re: Chaffinch in flight shots.

Whilst on holiday in Dumfries and Galloway, I recall sitting outside a cafe with Chaffinches hopping about on the table and taking Ruthy's Scone crumbs from our plates a few inches away from us. Are...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

That's nice Tord. I haven't seen a Chaffinch in our garden for years but over the past couple of weeks we have had up to five of them present for most of the time. We also had two Siskins visiting...

Re: Issues with Olympus updater today

Yes, there does appear to be a problem with the Olympus server at the moment. It is mentioned at the end of this (http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=47558) thread.

Re: EM1MK11 low price

I hadn't noticed that the price of the E-M1 II at SRS (1299) includes a free HLD-90 grip, which normally retails at 269. 1039 for the camera body almost sounds like a bargain, especially when you...
