Terns in flight with the EM1.2 3.0 firmware

During same photo session as the field test conducted on the Gulls I also tested the setup on more challenging subjects. The location is a bit hard to find, you have to cross a recreational area and...

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

Nice Barn owl, Ron.

Now to the topic. I updated the FW to 3.0 and put it to test. Strong gusty winds were prevailing, meaning near perfect conditions for action down by the shore and some (at...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Hi Harold,

For the m.Zuiko lenses there is no other option than using Olympus' own, matching, teleconverters as there is no other make available, so we can only speculate.

I once did test a...

Hi Mark,

For what it's worth...

There is a forum user "katran" who has been sharing nice photos taken with the 50-200 SWD + EC20. To achive sharp results he stopped down from F/7.1 to F/9 if...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Hi,

Basically a teleconverter is group of lenses that together act as a single diverging lens that enlarges the central part of the image obtained by the objective lens and then the central part...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

I hold it the setup same way as I would normally, exception from having left arm half stretched since the EE-1 would be at, from memory, 30cm from eye.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

I have an EE1 and for fast, erratic subjects such as Swallows it helps. It takes a while to get used aiming with without looking through the EVF, though.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Peter Bambousek is a highly regarded photographer. The photos taken with the 300 F/4 look very promising. Focus seems spot on and no complaints about the sharpness.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Hi Rob

The 300 F/4 + MC14 would be 425mm and F 5.6. For a fair comparison you would compare to the 150-400 F/4.5 with the 1,25 built-in TC meaning 75mm/15% shorter or for those that prefer the 400...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

With its excellent IQ and high portability I don't see the 300 F/4 becoming redundant.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Hi,

I have written this before, and can confirm that the EM1 (Mark 1 and Mark 2) AF works at F/8 (Canon 400/5.6 with 1.4 extender, adapted with metabones). I cannot confirm this is still true...

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

Agree, that format is a bit strange and more subject for error/misintepretation. ISO format YYYY-MM-DD cannot be misread.

Re: New MC 20 announced.

Seems the MC-20 defies the laws of physics as it transforms a 300mm lens into a 1200mm.
