Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Well, I guess we'll need to wait for the final announcement, but I sort of agree. For me, I dislike built in grips so unless there is a really big improvement in IQ I can't see me getting this. ...

Re: The mighty 12-100

I agree with that Mark - I do find myself taking landscapes at 100mm - something I would seldom have done at 200mm back in my Canon FF days.

I also agree that it's better as a landscape than a...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I can sort of see what the French Finance Minister is talking about. In a geopolitical sense he's right. Being part of a bigger economic block against China and the US makes sense. I also see the...

Re: The mighty 12-100

My only complaint is the size. But for a 24-200 equiv I guess I can't complain too much. I'm going through a zoom phase at the moment. My landscape bag is now the 8mm FE, 8-18 and 12-100. Almost...

Re: Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.

The mighty 12-100

I went for a walk in yesterday's lovely late autumn weather and took the 12-100. It's a fantastically versatile lens and the results never disappoint:

Re: Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.

I'm sure the lens will do better Jim. That shot was at ISO 6400 and a shutter speed of 1/45s with a subject that was moving. I'll take a few shots under more controlled situations which should be...

Re: Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.

Here's an old one. ISO 6400 but shot at f1.4.

Nice. Rutland Water I think. Number 1 is by far the nicest.

Re: Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.

I have this lens too. I find it pretty sharp at f1.4, but of course the DOF is very narrow so it's easy to miss focus.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

It's a complete fallacy that our benefit levels are higher than other European nations. In fact, we're below average:

Stunning set. A perfect example of how to do landscape photography. I'm very jealous! :)

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

That would indeed be quite a conspiracy. On the other hand, maybe unpicking 40 years of integration and where huge parts of the business world operate across borders unhindered is perhaps not quite...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

As a fervent remainer, I'm backing TM's deal. Here's why:

- Our negotiating position with the EU was never going to be strong and anyone who thought we could carry on in the single market with...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

It's no good Richard. The Brexit mindset has been forged by lies from the usual media outlets for the past 10 years or more. Coming up with reasonable, evidence-based arguments will not beat the...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Simple choice:

- Bad deal
- No deal
- Remain on current favourable terms

Re: Pinhole (#23)

Nice composition/light/eye etc Steve (I expect no less from you!), but why go to the trouble of using a pinhole? ND filter + de-focussed lens would do the trick.

Re: "Not Secure" Warning Triangle

It's simple really:

- If a site uses plain HTTP, there is no encryption of the data to/from your browser. In principle, anyone could snoop on your interaction.

- If a site uses HTTPS (aka SSL)...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Can we conclude that Olympus will once again claim that the C-AF is every bit as good as a DSLR?
