Wales won it. Which is always painful for us Anglos, but IMHO they deserved it.

Re: If you go down to the woods today....

Nice shots. You couldn't do that round here though.....

The dust has mostly died down following "the unpleasantness" in Salisbury last year with the Novichok poisonings. However, it has recently...

Re: Sapper

Another plus vote for sapper/Dave from me. I bought a tripod head and it was a very good transaction - good communication, very quick delivery, well packaged, and head was just as described.

I...

More old photos

Following on from Wally's thread about the new year's day photos, here is another BBC page I found interesting:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-47319251

It talks about...

Re: What a difference a day makes...

Thanks Wally, very interesting.

While I don't quite understand how some of the photos illustrate the theme, they add up to quite a body of work. Which I suppose is the intention. I've only looked...

Re: Don't judge a camera by reviews, but by it's potential.

Yes, of course, but the equipment can have a big bearing on how you turn your vision into an image.

People at work often used to ask me what camera they should buy. I would tell them to get one...

Re: Godox X1T-O

I think the new Oly system, launched alongside the E-M1X, is controlled by radio rather than optically. I've no idea whether it fits with any sort of standard system though.

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

I agree - I think Huw's comment sums up the pros and cons perfectly.

Re: Vintage Kit

I guess we must be of similar vintage as I started with a Garrard SP25 as well. Got fed up with it pretty quickly, I think it got replaced with another Garrard with a rather odd name like Module...

Re: Photoshop Ai enhanced RAW

If there is a difference, it looks very marginal to me and I wouldn't like to choose which one was "better". I had a little play with it on files from various cameras and didn't notice any worthwhile...

Re: Sad news about my favouriote airliner

Do they need special infrastructure at the airport to get the passengers (the "self-loading cargo" as Cabin Pressure had it) on and off the two decks at the same time? I imagine that could be quite a...

Re: Didn't see this coming..!!

I think there were some hints in among all the teasers for the new stuff, but we all paid so much attention to the E-M1X and 150-400 that we didn't really clock this. I wasn't too surprised when it...

Re: Night Views from Olympus Sydney balcony

I'm with Aussie Mark on this - the first shot works really well. It's not just a night shot, the composition fits together nicely and it has a great atmosphere.

Re: Correcting perspective

Thanks for trying it Steve. It has done the same thing as PS and LR - adjusted the horizontal lines as well as realigning the verticals so we have the same problem - it it were a photo of a building...

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

I do. Not just the grip, the whole larger size of the body means that I can't hold it comfortably. I also wouldn't be able to fit it into the bags I use these days and would feel all those extra...

Thanks for the comments. Derek, that's a useful comment about increasing the canvas size in PS. It always surprises me how much you seem to need.

The problem as I see it is that all the...

I'm very glad I did. It pretty...

Re: Camera versus The Human Eye

Thanks for the link, Dave, it is an interesting topic.

I think that (unless I missed it of course) the author overlooked something very important, which is our understanding of perspective. I have...
