Re: Eastern Spinebill & Kangaroo Paw.

Ross, #3 gets my vote because it shows more breast detail, but nevertheless a nice set overall.

Re: Nesting

Yes Ross, centre weighted at f/4 doesn't work well on birds with my setup. Spot at f/5.6 seems to work better, f/6.3 better still.
I checked out the MC20 which according to info is only for 4/3rds...

Re: Nesting

Sorry Ross, do you mean far better, or useless on the M5 mk2. I'm already having focusing issues with CD-AF in some situations. I regret not going the extra mile for the M1 Mkii. Btw, im already on...

Re: Nesting

Andrew, thanks for the reply, I suspect that Ross didn't read the question addressed to him.
Okay, puzzled by your "no brainer" comment. As said, I do have the 50-200, my Q was whether on the M5...

Collared Kingfisher (Todiramphus chloris)

This morning I went to a new location, about a mile further along the creek to where I usually go birding.
I was excited to find a collared Kingfisher, a much smaller bird than the Kookaburras...

Re: Fly in the Sky

Yes indeed you can, I've just been into my garden to see how close I could focus on a flower; under a metre at 210mm.
On the artistic score, well I was just 'doodling' so to speak, as at the time...

The top image is I believe the male as it was perched above the nesting female.
Yet the yellow circle around the...

Exceptionally clever, well timed shots there, Ross. The 40-150 on an M1 Mkii is a howler!
