Re: My Journey

Evocative, impressive are words that describe this simple seascape, Mark.
The half buried 'bones' of a shipwreck is an apt metaphor for the sea beyond.

Re: Hemitrichia at High Magnification and My Favourite Stereo

Thanks.

Those are highlights of hundreds of little nibs on the rough surface of the rotting wood moistened by previous rain. I have moderated highlights considerably with software.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

You have to be very lucky to get one of these close up! They avoid humans like the plague it seems.

As luck would have it, the last time one flew really close over me at Titchwell I was changing...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Thanks Mark but I think that the story it tells is that I should trust my gut reaction before posting second rate shots. :)

I like your shots of all those Godwits.

Re: WiFi File transfer

I’ve had a good run with Toshiba Flash Air SD cards. Perfect for transferring photos (including ORFs) to the phone, but YMMV for the PC transfer (I found it problematic with my Mac, but it should be...

Re: WiFi File transfer

I am not aware of any s/w that can do that without requiring some extra hardware. The raw .ORF files are large and I guess transferring over WiFi would be a big drain on the batteries.

Re: First morning in Oz Sunrise...

A good description. :D The Banksia Integrifolia (Coastal banksia) is unfortunately susceptible to gall wasp infestation. We planted four here with that occurring to them. I wonder about the species,...

Nice one of the King Parrots. They don't hold back in coming forward if they've been fed by people. You've got the blue in eye of the Satin Bowerbird nicely this time. *yes

Re: First morning in Oz Sunrise...

That’s actually a Satin Bowerbird, either young male or female. The migratory Koel (annoying bird) is a type of cuckoo & can have a sort of similar belly appearance & both males are black. A nice...

Enjoy the roos and K'roo Valley, although in spite of searching the web I've no clue as to where in Qld it actually is.
Most seaches bring up K.V in NSW, and none display a map. So, wherever it...

That's a good one of the Masked Lapwing (also known as spur-winged plover). *yes

They can be heard at night too & can just lay their eggs on an open grass area.

Re: First morning in Oz Sunrise...

The front duck looks like a domestic hybrid while the back one looks like a native Pacific Black Duck. They've learnt where to find 'home comforts' & free feeds, most likely. ;)
