Re: Good job the gear is good!

I saw it mentioned on the internet a few days ago but didn't really follow it up. My initial reaction was that this is the company we all looked to for assurance that the E-System wasn't dead, not...

Re: E-System Pricing

I couldn't get on with the command dial/direction buttoms, I kept changing settings accidently regardless of how I tried to set it up. IMO there's just too much going on in such a small area. An...

Re: E-System Pricing

Well SRS prices are certainly better but they still seem pretty expensive, that said I haven't bought anything since the E-420 and IIRC the last lens was quite a bit before that so not having been...

E-System Pricing

Just been looking at the price of E-System kit direct from Olympus.

http://shop.olympus.co.uk/e_commerce/body-kits/olympus/e-420-p-521-c-62.htm

The lenses especially seem very expensive, have...

Re: Olympus E7

I doubt we'll see anymore E-system bodies, the e-5 good as it may be isn't even much of a flagship, it's really a combination of everything we've seen from the Pen series since the E-3. There isn't...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

It's an interesting view and I'd like to think you're right but I suspect that if Olympus couldn't sell sufficient 4/3rds DSLR's to be profitable when the system was fresh and the only competition...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

I'd like to think that if there is an entry level 4/3rds body in the pipeline let alone an m4/3rds Pro body that they're well beyond the 'deep in development' stage.

In any case it's not...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

It's quite possible that a Pro Pen will come but it'll be extremely expensive given the price of existing Pen models and at best will probably only equal the handling/performance of an entry level...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

I missed this earlier but feel you're overlooking the obvious downside for a 4/3rds user switching to using a mirrorless m4/3rds rather than a mirrorless 4/3rds, the 150 adapter.

Olympus...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

I think the E-PL2 is the best looking Pen but AFAIK it doesn't have a proper command dial. Of the m4/3rds bodies without a built in EVF I think I'd prefer the Panasonic GF1/GF2. From a practical...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

Left or central it doesn't matter much to be honest, you could place it left and continue the 'hump' across to right of center to facilitate a pop up flash that sits central to the lens mount.

I...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

I suspect that an integrated EVF would be more compact and if you keep an EVF mounted permanently then there's little to be gained in making it removeable in the 1st place but it does come at a...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

Definately not, something even more fragile than the flip out LCD on the E-3, an additional item to carry then fit or have it fitted all the time which makes it even more vulnerable.

That aside...

Re: Three new Micro Four Thirds Pens from Olympus

Me neither, no EVF = no deal for a start.

Olympus seem to be concentrating on m4/3rds, for 4/3rds users there's absolutely nothing in the way of small/entry/mid level bodies like the E-4** or...

Re: Wide angle lens choice

For landscapes it probably either the 9-18 or 11-22, IMO the 7-14 is too specialised, I tried one and found that on overcast/cloudy days it's hard to expose for the foreground without blowing out the...

Re: Anyone Using Panasonic Lenses on a Pen?

Yeah it's a compromise for sure but sometimes compromise is required, for looking down I'd actually prefer the flip out LCD on the G1/2. I think I'd have to carry an E-PL2 with the EVF dismounted to...

Olympus m4/3rds in the near future?

I haven't really been following developments in m4/3rds as far as Olympus are concerned as from the start they seemed to be aiming at compact users wishing to upgrade rather than DSLR users wanting...

Re: Anyone Using Panasonic Lenses on a Pen?

Thanks, good to know that the SCP is easily accessible once set up, it works very well if you're wearing gloves.

Do you notice the height of the VF-2 in use, I had a turret finder for a Kiev 4 but...

Anyone Using Panasonic Lenses on a Pen?

I seriously considering switching to m4/3rds as my primary system, I ruled out the Pen versions and was thinking about either the Panasonic G1 or G2 however I'd prefer to remain with Olympus as I...

Re: Considering a DMC-G1 or G2

Thanks for the advice guys, Ulfric I use the E-420 when backpacking/hill walking primarily due to the reduced weight/bulk. It's a tough little camera, been left rattling around on the bottom of my...

Re: Considering a DMC-G1 or G2

Hi, thanks for that, the 9-18 would be my preferred choice although I didn't buy the E-System 9-18 as I already had the 11-22.

You mention the DR is better on the G-2 but the colour better on the...

Considering a DMC-G1 or G2

I've been using E-System DSLR's almost since I switched from a 35mm OM based set-up (briefly used a Nikon D70) Although I have an E-1 and an E-3 I find that since buying an E-420 I use it almost...

Re: Olympus announces the E-PL2

Got to agree with Makonde, until there's a semi/pro spec Pen with a built in EVF there's very little to see for those who currently use an E-System DSLR but who would adopt m4/3rds. Looking at all...

Re: Olympus XZ-1 compact may be of interest to Pen fans

That looks as if it would be a useful little camera, for me dynamic range will be the key point though, if it's up against the LX-3-LX-5 it'll have to be very good, I've seen the results from the LX...

Re: Olympus R.I.P?

I bought the E-3 as soon as it was available and in many respects apart from build quality it was a major step forward from my E-1 but given the timescale it needed to be. Frankly no matter how you...
