Re: Partial lunar eclipse...

By fluke of course. ;)

New camera body with no chance to get it set up properly for this particular job.
It actually came out a bit underexposed; I was using centre weighted metering and single...

Re: Partial lunar eclipse...

Unfortunately evening meal was served from 10.15-11pm, so I missed most of it.
I did manage to get the tripod out and get one shot in before it immediately clouded over until the eclipse ended. :(

Re: Lens covers

I did buy one for my 300m F2.8 when I first got it, as a means of protection for an expensive investment, rather than for camouflage. It didn't fit properly when it arrived.
Then I discovered plain...

CEX offer refund, repair, or replacement within 30 days.
I think I'd be likely to try and go for the repair option, maybe suggesting Luton cameras.

Only have a Mk1, but I often use the equivalent
Mainly if I'm wandering round and there is a possibility that the battery is likely to run out during some sort of action photo session, wildlife or...

Re: 300mm F4 Tripod Mount Screw Hole question

Mine doesn't have anything in there either.
I also guess it's to add a small cap head to stop it sliding out of some particular Arca type clamp with a slot/groove in it

Re: Diesel Engine Runaway

Ah, but this was in 1988 when alternative diesels were thin on the ground.
My Disco 1 is a 300TDi.
The Lightweight doesn't do many miles these days, and is far from standard.
High Ratio transfer...

Re: Diesel Engine Runaway

I used to have a 2 1/4 diesel engine in the Landrover, which I eventually replaced witha 3.5 V8 when it started running on its own engine oil.
Compression was quite low, with high crankcase...

Re: Flickr for beginners

Iain, do you have the flickr app on your tablet?

The reason I ask, is that on my phone, I do have the app. When I enter flickr web site via chrome, rather than seeing the site in a browser window,...

Re: Possible Future Sale

Tim, the tripod adaptor is only about 200g but it's detachable, so unless you're using the lens on a tripod, there's no need to bear the weight whilst taking hand held photos.
On the other hand,...

Make sure you get it reported to VM asap.
Hard to imagine it happening accidentally as billing systems should be pretty much watertight security wise.
