Re: Is the Hire Service still running?

Hi James,

We've been in touch and you as you know we don't have a 12-100 but we continue to offer other items for as long as there is demand and the prices from 2013 continue to be offered for...

Re: Squabbling red kites

I have several other shots where contact or near contact was made and they have been doing this all day for at least a week - no obvious damage. It seems like they are enjoying it!

These two have been 'playing' every day above our area for at least a week. This was...

Re: I want to go back!

Very (though that in itself is a little worrying as we hear a lot about coral reefs suffering from rising sea temperatures).

Re: Lightroom 6 creating new date folder.

Just had a quick look, when importing there is a configuration panel called 'Destination' and you can choose 'By Original Folder', 'One Folder' or by 'By Date'. I personally use the last.

You can...

Re: Lightroom 6 creating new date folder.

Off the top of my head - can't you select this at the time of import? Lightroom kinda expects you to set up a preferred way of doing things (as a default) but I'm sure you can change it when starting...

Re: A few birds of the Philippines

I just wish I hadn't left my 40-150 Pro behind on that day! It was really just a day out for the family on our holiday. The resort has an artificial waterfall (part of a dam and a now-unused water...

Re: BLH-1 Clone Tests

Something wrong there - Amazon will always be your ally if there is a dispute with a third party seller (and of course you've got a solid case). I've had sellers ignore my requests and Amazon has...

Re: BLH-1 Clone Tests

Buy from a reputable store (Amazon or even eBay, for example) and you should be looked after if the product becomes faulty.

Re: BLH-1 Clone Tests

I have an ExPro BLH-1 and it worked as well as the original during my recent Far East trip which meant temperatures of up to 40C (Thailand!) and rarely below 30C during the day (everywhere else) as...

A few birds of the Philippines

I'm not really a bird photographer but I was with my family in the Philippines for a couple of weeks earlier in the month and sometimes the birds simply beg to be photographed :)

So here are a few...

Re: Firmware Update

There may be some other less obvious improvements that haven't been documented, but I do understand any reticence when doing updates as there is a very small risk of something going wrong. A good...

Re: 90-250/2.8 is it worth getting?

Having lived in the Far East myself (indeed, I'm going there tomorrow :)) it struck me that some here might not realise what you mean by a Dry Box :D

It's very humid in the tropics and this can...

Re: Manfrotto compatible Arca plate for E-M1 II?

It's not really a spongy pad. The rubber inserts lie inside the metal frame of the plate. They provide some initial grip when attaching the plate to the camera but they are compressed to the point...

Re: Manfrotto compatible Arca plate for E-M1 II?

I bought one of these (6):

http://amzn.eu/9a1OimX

It arrived today and it does the job! It does protrude forward of the E-M1.2 baseplate but isn't in the way of anything and remains balanced...

Re: Manfrotto compatible Arca plate for E-M1 II?

Thanks so much Allan, but I have already ordered a different plate simply to experiment with and I of course still have the original Manfrotto plate which does of course work, it's just a bit large...

Re: Manfrotto compatible Arca plate for E-M1 II?

It's strange but I find the E-M1s fine without the grips - but I much preferred the bigger E-3/5 with the grip. I have a grip for my E-M1.1 but I haven't used it for ages and I've not felt the need...

Re: Card slot designations

cameramemoryspeed.com shows that decent UHS-1 cards will write RAW files at 40MB/sec, which is easily a write rate adequate for 4K high bitrate mode.

Some UHS-II cards were no better!

However,...
